Privacy Policy for Fork in the Road

1. Introduction

Fork in the Road is a group restaurant-picking app. We are committed to collecting as little personal information as possible and to being clear about how the app works. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when using the app.

2. Information We Collect

Depending on how you use the app, we may collect the following categories of information:

Location information: If you choose "Use My Location" or create a discover-based session, the app uses your location or typed address/ZIP code to find nearby restaurants.

Session information: Session codes, participant nicknames, restaurant choices, votes, and results are stored to run the core multiplayer experience.

Purchase and subscription information: If you purchase Fork in the Road Pro, we process App Store or Google Play receipt information to verify entitlement status.

Device and advertising identifiers: On supported platforms, advertising and purchase SDKs may use device-level identifiers to deliver ads, restore purchases, prevent fraud, and measure performance.

Support information: If you contact support, we may receive the information you choose to send, such as your email address and the contents of your message.

3. How We Use Information

We use information to operate the app, create and join restaurant-voting sessions, deliver results, verify Pro purchases, show ads to free-tier users, respond to support requests, and improve reliability and performance.

4. Location Data

Location data is used only to discover restaurants near the place you choose for a session. You can also type an address or ZIP code instead of sharing your current device location.

5. Advertising and Analytics

Fork in the Road uses Google AdMob on iOS and Android and Google AdSense on the web free tier. These services may collect information subject to their own privacy policies. On iOS, the app requests App Tracking Transparency permission before initializing advertising services.

6. Third-Party Services

The app relies on third-party services including Google Places for restaurant discovery, Apple and Google platform billing systems for purchase verification, and advertising providers for free-tier ad delivery. Those services may process data according to their own terms and privacy policies.

7. Data Retention

Session data is intended to be temporary. Server-side session data may be purged after approximately 24 hours. Some local history may remain on your device so recent sessions can be displayed back to you.

8. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data in transit and at rest. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children’s Privacy

Fork in the Road is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

10. Your Choices

You can choose whether to grant location access, whether to allow tracking on iOS, and whether to use the free tier or upgrade to Pro. You may also stop using the app at any time.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date on this page.
